Chemistry majors will gain an understanding of the structure of atoms and molecules, properties of materials, and the reactions that convert one molecule or material to another. The chemistry major prepares students to think critically and quantitatively, reason scientifically, and to understand the experimental methods, techniques, and instrumentation used in chemistry. Students have the opportunity to gain relevant research experience on campus.
Upon completing the BA in Chemistry program at CSP, our graduates have a firm grasp on the use of experimental methods and instrumentation used in chemistry. Our graduates’ career paths are plentiful, as their well-rounded experiences at Concordia prepare them for any chemistry-related position.
CSP’s all-encompassing approach to chemistry ensures students will be ready to make an impact in their careers. Coursework includes organic chemistry, biochemistry, thermodynamics, physics, and more studies.
From your introduction to the program to your graduation day, you’ll explore and learn advanced scientific methodology and terminology. Careers in chemistry range from lab-centric roles such as chemical technician, environmental chemist, and organic chemist, to academic roles in teaching. Many postgraduate options are available as well, all the way up to the doctoral level.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
