Career Options

Graduates completing CSAT and special education majors are prepared to teach in elementary and middle-school classrooms as well as to serve as special education teachers in endorsement areas such as cognitive impairment, emotional impairment, early childhood, and learning disabilities.

Graduates completing CSAT and elementary education majors with the Spanish elementary education minor are prepared to teach Spanish Immersion, Spanish specials, or general education in elementary classrooms.

Graduates completing CSAT and elementary education majors with the ESL minor are prepared to teach English as a second language in elementary classrooms or provide ESL support in any subject in K-12 classrooms.

Graduates completing CSAT and elementary education majors with the early childhood education minor are prepared to teach in preschool programs as well as kindergarten through third grade.

Scholarships

For Undergraduate:

• Guaranteed Scholarship__ 6000$ for all the international students
• International Merit Scholarship: $2,500 to $10,000. Scholarship decisions are based on a review of the information in the application, including an essay, academic information,
• and extracurricular activities. Students who submit an application for fall admission by February 1 are eligible for this scholarship. Only students on F1 status are eligible for this scholarship

For Graduate:

• We have kept in state tuition fee for all the students (kind of inbuilt scholarship).
• We do have graduate assistantships through which students can work on campus.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

1. Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
2. Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
3. 24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.
