The MSU Office of International Programs is proud to offer merit__based scholarships to qualified international undergraduate applicants that are offered full admission to Montana State University. These awards are based on grade point average only as of April 2, 2021. These awards can be applied only toward MSU tuition and cannot be awarded to students being given Conditional Admission in order to attend Intensive English classes with INTERLINK International Institute.
When an international student submits their application, they are automatically considered for scholarships based on their grade point average from high school or college coursework. Students who are offered full admission to attend MSU with a cumulative GPA of 2.5+ on a 4.0 scale are eligible for consideration. Awards range from $5,000__$12,000 per year.
This scholarship can be renewed annually if the student maintains a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, maintains full__time student status, and attends as a non__resident student.
Any scholarships offered through the Office of International Programs prior to April 2, 2021 will be upheld as described in the original award.

Please note: Scholarship consideration is based on academic performance and will be awarded in the order in which students are offered admission, so it is best to complete the application early and confirm any award quickly. Students will not be considered for the Office of International Programs Scholarship until they have been offered Full Admission. Applications should be received by the term application deadline as listed on our Application Instructions Page.
The Presidential Scholarships are Montana State University's most distinguished academic awards, recognizing scholastic achievement, demonstrated leadership and unique personal qualities. Scholarship recipients receive annual tuition waivers, a generous stipend and other unique incentives for each of four years. Recent Presidential Scholars have gone on to receive such renowned awards as the Goldwater, Truman, Rhodes, Marshall and Mitchell scholarships. As Ambassadors of the university, they reflect its highest ideals through demonstrated leadership and public service and are in the process of leaving a unique fingerprint on their world.
If you applied for the Presidential Scholarship, your scholarship application will also serve as your application to the Honors College. The application deadline is early-December of each year. Please note: You must be offered full admission to MSU as a first-year student for the Fall semester before you can apply for the Presidential Scholarship. Students that are offered Conditional Admission or have 12+ credits from a university or college are not eligible for the Presidential Scholarship.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
