Our M.S. in Engineering effectively prepares professionals to respond to the changing needs of engineers today. Our students complete higher level coursework in technical topics and develop and demonstrate applied skills in research, teaching, and communication - all of which leads to an advanced engineering degree. Our program provides you with the necessary knowledge, skill set, and training to be leaders in the engineering workforce.
Novel independent research, conducted under the supervision of a faculty mentor, is an option (thesis-track) and will culminate in publication(s) in peer-reviewed scientific journals, presentations at scientific conferences, a thesis, and the potential generation of intellectual property.
You can choose between a thesis and coursework track. You may also work on a project, which can count toward a coursework track degree. Most full-time students work on funded research projects, leading to a thesis. Most part-time students select the coursework track. In order to be eligible for a Teaching or Research Assistantship, students must select the thesis track.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):
