The Psychiatric - Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) concentration is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills necessary to provide psychiatric and mental health care to individuals and families throughout the lifespan.
Upon completion of the concentration, students are eligible to sit for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification exam offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
There is a second master’s degree option for this program that is primarily aimed at nurse practitioners from other specialties who wish to pursue the specialty of psychiatry. Admission requirements, as required by the Graduate School policies, are the same as the admission requirements for the program with the addition of a master’s degree in nursing.

Note:- The Wright State University has made certain changes in its admission process due to the COVID Pandemic.
They are adapting new measures during this tough time and hence, some changes have been made. The University is willing to accept the Duolingo English test as the proof of English language proficiency. The minimum acceptance score will be 115.
Scholarships
Graduate International Alumni Scholarship
A $10,000 annual scholarship for full-time enrollment will be awarded for F-1 and J-1 international students who have completed an undergraduate or graduate degree at Wright State and would like to enroll for a second degree. Students will need to have a GPA of 3.0 or higher at the time of admission to be eligible. The scholarship is renewable for 4 semesters so long as the student maintains a 3.0 GPA. The scholarship cannot be combined with any other Wright State funded scholarships.
Scholarship Details
Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):
