Program Overview

Students in the Career and Technologies (CTS) major choose one areas of focus: Business Focus or New Media Focus.

As new students, you will start your path in the Faculty of your focus: Dhillon School of Business in the case of CTS:Business Focus, and Faculty of Fine Arts if you chose CTS: New Media Focus.

Career and Technology Studies: Business Focus (pre-BMgt/BEd)

By blending your Management degree with your passion for teaching and learning, this combined degrees program enables you to apply your Management knowledge and skills to Career and Technology Studies. In this combined degrees program, you will apply the knowledge gained from your subject area while enhancing the skills and methods necessary in the teaching profession.

The five-year combined degree with education prepares students for teaching in the K–12 school system and leads to the award of a Bachelor of Management and a Bachelor of Education (BMgt/BEd). As a general management major, you will have a broad background in all areas of management and maximum flexibility to choose courses that fit your personal and career interests. In addition to the required courses, the major includes six 3000- or 4000-level Management electives.

With this combined degree, students are well prepared to teach in schools and receive an excellent management education that qualifies them to teach in the CTS area. In the education portion of the combined degree, students practice teaching in the schools during three professional semesters. Some typical career paths include a CTS teacher, principal or school administrator.
