National Louis University’s M.Ed. in Mathematics Education program is designed for licensed PK–8 teachers seeking to advance their math teaching skills in order to provide higher levels of professional competence in their classrooms, schools and districts. Applicants must hold a valid Professional Educator’s License (PEL) prior to starting the program.
The program is offered in fully online or blended formats. The blended format combines online coursework with in-person classroom interaction and activities. Classes meet one evening per week to accommodate the schedules of working teachers.
Through coursework, you’ll delve into advanced mathematical topics and current trends in mathematics pedagogy, and construct lesson plans that align with Common Core standards. You’ll also learn to utilize academic technology, accommodate diverse learners, and contribute to school-wide decisions about mathematics curriculum. Consisting of 32 semester hours, the program culminates in an individualized capstone research project under the guidance of a faculty member.

National Louis University International Opportunity scholarships
All international students admitted to a National Louis University Bachelor's degree program will receive an annual, renewable scholarship equal to 10% of the full-time tuition rate (valued up to $7,599* ).

Application Process
Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
