Master of Education in Mathematics Education

Program Overview

National Louis University’s M.Ed. in Mathematics Education program is designed for licensed PK–8 teachers seeking to advance their math teaching skills in order to provide higher levels of professional competence in their classrooms, schools and districts. Applicants must hold a valid Professional Educator’s License (PEL) prior to starting the program.

The program is offered in fully online or blended formats. The blended format combines online coursework with in-person classroom interaction and activities. Classes meet one evening per week to accommodate the schedules of working teachers.

Through coursework, you’ll delve into advanced mathematical topics and current trends in mathematics pedagogy, and construct lesson plans that align with Common Core standards. You’ll also learn to utilize academic technology, accommodate diverse learners, and contribute to school-wide decisions about mathematics curriculum. Consisting of 32 semester hours, the program culminates in an individualized capstone research project under the guidance of a faculty member.
