Careers

• We work with employers to make sure you graduate with the knowledge, skills and abilities they need. They help us review what we teach and how we teach it – and they offer hands-on, practical opportunities to learn through work-based projects, internships or placements.
• If you're taking the three-year degree, accredited by the IBMS, you'll be prepared for a trainee position in an NHS laboratory to become a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered biomedical scientist. We will provide a valuable introduction to the UK’s professional body for biomedical scientists, as well as a chance to link with professionals working in the industry.
• When you graduate you will also be in demand for a wide range of biomedical roles, from scientific or laboratory-based jobs in pure research, both in university and industrial laboratories, to pharmaceutical manufacturing, and working for the Medical Research Council or other health-related public bodies and charities.

Our BSc Biomedical Science degree is also a route into medicine. For students who complete their first year of BSc Biomedical Science to an exceptional high standard, there may be the opportunity to transfer to Year 1 of MBChB Medicine. It must be noted that this is a highly competitive route and there is limited availability. Alternatively, upon graduation you will need to pass the UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT) and have gained relevant work experience in the healthcare sector. You can then apply for a four- or five-year accelerated programme at a UK medical school.

Cambridge has become a world-leading centre for biomedical research and commercial activities of the biotechnology industry. You will benefit from proximity to world-renowned institutions based in the city such as the Sanger Institute and the Wellcome Trust laboratories. Alternatively, you could use the transferable skills you have developed in business or further education.
Graduation does not need to be the end of your time with us. If you would like to continue your studies, we offer a wide range of full-time and part-time postgraduate courses, including MSc Biomedical Science (distance learning) and MSc Applied Bioscience.

Navitas family bursaries
Value

The bursary is equivalent to 10% of the tuition fee for up to 8 units of study within one program only with a Navitas member institution. The bursary does not apply to additional units or repeat units that may also be undertaken and excludes mixed English options. For more Information Click Here

Eligibility

• The Family Bursary applies where two or more students from the same family* study at a Navitas institution. The first family member can be studying at a Navitas institution at the same time as the other family members or may have studied at any Navitas institution previously.
• The family bursary is granted to the second and subsequent family members who study at a Navitas institution.
• The bursary is equivalent to 10% of the tuition fee for one program only with a Navitas member institution. The bursary does not apply to additional units or repeat units that may also be undertaken.
• For Diploma students, the bursary is equivalent to 10% of the tuition fees for the first attempt at units in the program of study† (excluding mixed English option).
• For Certificate students, the bursary is equivalent to 10% of the tuition fee for the first attempt at units in the program of study (excluding mixed English options).
• Students must pay the full amount for half their course as shown on their Letter of Offer in order to confirm their place at the Navitas Institution to which they have applied. If the student remains enrolled at the institution, at the end of the week 4 of their first semester, 10% of their tuition fee paid will be credited to the student. The balance of the bursary is credited to the eligible students’s tuition account in the second and subsequent semesters. (The amount credited will be calculated on the actual number of units studied).
• The maximum value of the family bursary is 10% of the tuition fees for the first attempt of units in the program of study regardless of the number of family members who have studied with Navitas institutions.
• A completed application must be submitted to the Navitas institution together with supporting documents such as a birth certificate or family card.
• The General Manager or the Director Finance Administration will approve the award of a family bursary and authorise the accountant to process the relevant adjustments.

Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur Visa for the graduates with a genuine and credible business idea. 
Tier 2 (General) is the leading immigration visa to work in the UK.
Tier 4 Doctorate Extension Scheme is for students who have completed their Ph.D. and is valid for 12 months for them to work, look for work or set up a business. 
Tier 5 Youth Mobility is for individuals of certain countries like Australia, Canada, Japan, Monaco, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, and New Zealand aged between 18 -30 who wish to move to the UK. 
Tier 5 GAE is for individuals who want to come to the UK for work experience, training, research or a fellowship. 
UK Ancestry is for individuals who are a citizen of a commonwealth and plan to work in the UK and have a grandparent who was born in the UK.
