International Foundation in Engineering and Science (Extended 4-Term) Leading to Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Midwifery Sciences

Program Overview

As an international student, you might need, or benefit from, a pathway course before you start to a degree. A pathway course is often necessary because of different education systems of UK and your home country. The International Foundation Year offered by INTO Group, is perfect for international students who do not meet the academic requirements. It'll boost your academic and language skills, and improve your subject knowledge, to the level needed for entry to a degree at the Queens University Belfast.

International Foundation in Engineering and Science is a four-term program offered by INTO Group. It prepares students for direct entry to Year 1 of an undergraduate degree in a range of subjects including Biomedical Sciences, Computing, Engineering, Nursing and Science at Queen's University Belfast. Students will develop the knowledge and skills for their chosen degree through a specialist pathway.

Midwifery Sciences
Midwifery is a rewarding, dynamic and highly skilled profession. This course will equip you with the knowledge, skills and attributes to deliver woman and family centred, safe and effective care, and work alongside interdisciplinary teams in maternity services as a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registered midwife.

You will have the opportunity to learn in our state-of-the-art clinical skills and simulation suite and complete practice placements in a range of clinical settings including hospital and community with our internationally-recognised training partners. An international elective placement (optional) is offered in your final year to explore the context of international midwifery care. The course is split equally between tuition in QUB and in clinical practice.

The course is taught by midwifery experts in education and research, clinicians and specialist practitioners who will support you in becoming a caring, compassionate and competent midwife providing high quality care. The inclusion of interdisciplinary learning throughout the three year course will enrich your experience and prepare you for working together in practice.

The content of the midwifery course is currently under development in response to proposed changes to the NMC Standards for Midwifery. Please review the Coursefinder pages for the latest information about our midwifery course.
