Studying at the International Study Centre will develop the English language and academic skills you need to succeed in an undergraduate degree at University College Dublin. We offer one program—the International Foundation Year—with a choice of two subject routes. Studying on UCD's main campus you will prepare to make a confident start to your degree.
Why study the International Foundation Year?
Engineering and Sciences
Progress to undergraduate study with the International Foundation Year in Engineering and Sciences. Study engineering, computer science, general science, or biomedical and health sciences at UCD.
Environmental Biology
This degree focuses on the biological aspects of environmental science. It equips students with a strong background in ecology and its application to environmental assessment and management. Marine, terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems are studied through the disciplines of plant, animal and microbial ecology, evolutionary biology, conservation biology, global change biology, pollution biology, soil science and wildlife ecology. There’s a strong emphasis on vocational skills and links with industry. Core modules include mock environmental impact assessment, field-based sampling in Ireland and Spain, and guest lectures from environmental managers and consultants.

Graduate opportunities are also available for students to pursue MSc or PhD programmes. Taught MSc programmes at UCD include Applied Science (Environmental Science), Evolutionary Biology, Imaging & Microscopy and World Heritage Management.
Undergraduate scholarships for international Students:
University College Dublin and the International Study Centre are offering joint scholarships of up to €19,000 to international students.* The scholarship is available towards your tuition at the International Study Centre, as well as for your chosen progression degree at UCD.

All self-funded students are eligible for the joint scholarship, excluding those who are progressing to degrees in Economics and Finance and Biomedical Science Health and Life Sciences. Sponsored students are not eligible for these scholarships. To be eligible, you must:
