Cardozo’s General Studies LL.M. program is distinctive for its flexibility and the breadth of its offerings. Students enrolled in the General Studies LL.M. program may select from virtually the entire law school curriculum. The degree is valuable to lawyers from abroad as well as to J.D. graduates of U.S. law schools who wish to broaden their academic and professional horizons.
Courses
LL.M. students choose courses from the Cardozo J.D. curriculum. The Cardozo J.D. curriculum includes core doctrinal courses (known as “first-year” courses because they are required during the first year of J.D. study) that lay the foundation of legal concepts along with upper-level courses that provide variety and depth and allow for specialization in specific areas of the law.
General Studies LL.M. students are free to choose courses from both the first-year and upper-level curricula, provided course prerequisites have been met.

For direct admission, applicant must be from an English speaking country or meet either of the following English test scores:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Overall Score: 6.5 with no band less than 5.5
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Overall Score - 80, (Min Listening: 20.0, Min Reading: 18.0, Min Speaking: 22.0, Min Writing: 20.0)
Pearson Test of English (PTE) - Overall Score: 60 with no band less than 58
Duolingo English Test Score: 110

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
