Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Bioinformatics (Co-op)

Program Overview

Modern biology in the postgenomic age is being greatly enriched by the infusion of ideas from computer science, information science, mathematics, systems research and statistics. Bioinformatics makes use of computational tools, including artificial intelligence, that allow us to analyze and create knowledge from the vast datasets accumulating in the life, environmental and health sciences. Bioinformatics uses techniques from computer science to solve biological problems in the areas of gene identification, drug interactions, protein structure, biodiversity and climate change, the answers to which will be at the forefront of the application of personalized medicine and environmental management. At Carleton, you will take courses in several areas including bioinformatics, biology, biochemistry and computer science.

Work Experience
A Co-op option is available. Co-op is the opportunity to get a head start on a career. Co-op work terms allow for the development of key employability skills, exploration of career options and graduation with tangible, workplace experience.
