Program Overview

Transform your career and tackle global energy challenges with New York Tech’s Master of Energy Management program in Vancouver. Graduate ready to lead with innovative solutions and make a lasting impact on the world’s energy landscape.

Why Earn Your Master of Energy Management at New York Tech?

Our MEM program teaches you the skills to address global energy-related challenges and become a leader in energy management. You’ll learn to apply cutting-edge energy technologies, develop effective policies, and utilize management methodologies to help corporations, governments, and organizations meet their climate change commitments. Our curriculum is designed to align with B.C.’s energy policies while offering national and international perspectives.

The program consists of 30 credits, including a fundamental core of seven required courses and three elective courses. You can tailor your studies with a combination of technical energy management courses and MBA courses.

To help deepen your expertise and align with specific career goals, the MEM program offers three practical specializations. Each specialization focuses on an important aspect of energy management, equipping you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the industry:

  • Building Energy Efficiency and Decarbonization (BEED): Prepare for careers in building energy modeling and related fields. You will learn to develop strategies that reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, advancing more sustainable building practices.
  • Sustainability, Climate Resilience, and Adaptation (SCRA): Gain a comprehensive understanding of how to support communities, businesses, and industries in preparing for and adapting to climate change risks, with an emphasis on resilience and long-term sustainability across diverse sectors.
  • Advanced Renewable Energy Systems (ARES): Explore advanced concepts in designing, modeling, and costing renewable single and hybrid energy systems, including solar and wind energy, with optional integration of innovative storage solutions like batteries and hydrogen-based systems.

Our applied curriculum emphasizes student projects, providing hands-on experience in real-world energy management scenarios. This approach ensures that you graduate with the practical skills needed to excel in the energy sector.

Students have the flexibility to transfer between our New York and Vancouver campuses, broadening their educational experience. Financial aid is available to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, while international students can work off-campus during their studies and qualify for post-graduation work permits of up to three years.

We offer comprehensive career planning services to all students, helping you navigate your career path and achieve your professional goals in the energy management field.
