Law
The International Foundation Year in Law leads to a choice of degrees at Lancaster University Law School – one of the UK’s most respected law schools. To prepare for your degree, you will study core English language modules and subject modules for Law. Your degree options include Criminology, Law, and Law with Politics.
As a Law student the topics you will study include justice, ethics, democracy and political institutions. You will learn about important cases and the history of the law, and you will either study Globalisation or Core mathematics.
Drama Theatre Performance
Studying Drama, Theatre and Performance at Lancaster gives you the opportunity to learn about innovative twentieth and twenty-first century theatre and performance through an exciting and varied mix of practical and academic approaches. You will gain critical and creative skills that open up possibilities for working in theatre, while making you highly attractive to a wide range of other employers.
You will be taught by theatre practitioners and scholars and will benefit from performance facilities and the access to professional practice provided by our close relationship with Lancaster Arts and with other leading organisations in the creative and cultural industries.
Throughout your degree you will be given the opportunity to gain knowledge of different modes of acting and theatre production from Shakespeare to cutting edge contemporary theatre. You will be given the option to choose modules on British Theatre (1945-20), Post-war European Playwrights, Modern Dance, New Writing in British Theatre, The Popular, The Political and the Avant-Garde, Writing for Performance, Contemporary European Postdramatic Theatre, Media and Performance, New Scenographies in Performance, Theatre for Social Change and Contemporary Dance and the Visual Arts. You will have a number of opportunities to complete solo and group performance projects including the final degree show.
The interdisciplinary environment supported by the Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts gives you the opportunity to either focus solely on Theatre or choose to take some modules in Art, Design, Film, or Sound. You will have the opportunity to gain real world experience in the creative arts with our Creative Enterprise module, working on a live project to deliver a creative arts initiative in the community.

Careers
The performance, creative, communication, entrepreneurial skills and professional practice you will have access to as part of your degree will enable you to consider a wide range of jobs in the creative and cultural industries and in many other employment sectors.
Our previous graduates have gone on to work in a wide variety of roles within theatre and performance - as performers, directors, dramaturgs, writers, producers, technicians or administrators - while others are employed in television, film and digital media, journalism and publishing, or in teaching, social work, community arts and drama and dance therapy. A Drama, Theatre and Performance degree at Lancaster supports graduates in developing confidence and capability to produce work for themselves and a significant number go on the set up their own theatre companies, or small, thriving businesses.
There are various options through which a student can get a post study work visa in the UK.
Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur Visa for the graduates with a genuine and credible business idea.
Tier 2 (General) is the leading immigration visa to work in the UK.
Tier 4 Doctorate Extension Scheme is for students who have completed their Ph.D. and is valid for 12 months for them to work, look for work or set up a business.
Tier 5 Youth Mobility is for individuals of certain countries like Australia, Canada, Japan, Monaco, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, and New Zealand aged between 18 -30 who wish to move to the UK.
Tier 5 GAE is for individuals who want to come to the UK for work experience, training, research or a fellowship.
UK Ancestry is for individuals who are a citizen of a commonwealth and plan to work in the UK and have a grandparent who was born in the UK.
