Advanced Diploma in Computer Engineering Technology (Optional Co-op)

Program Overview

Through this intensive three-year advanced diploma program, you will gain a solid foundation, combining the three primary branches of information and communications technology: electronics, software development and IT infrastructure.

Seneca incorporates curriculum content from a number of internationally known organizations, including CompTIA and Cisco. In addition, your professors have strong ties with major tech companies, including Microsoft, Bell, Rogers, Keysight Technologies and Freescale Semiconductors, to help you gain exposure to current industry practices and build a network prior to graduation. As a graduate of this program, your knowledge of both relevant equipment and its use will enhance your career opportunities in the computer and information technology fields.

Skills
Throughout this program you will develop the following skills:

  • Write computer programs
  • Programming languages including C, C++, C#, Java and Python
  • Computer hardware assembly and troubleshooting
  • Computer network design, installation and support
  • Cisco router implementation

Optional Co-op
Students meeting all academic requirements may have the opportunity to complete an optional co-op work term(s) in a formal work environment. In most cases the work term(s) is a full-time paid position completed between two academic semesters. In programs with limited co-op opportunities, additional academic requirements and a passing grade on a communication assessment may be required for eligibility. Eligibility for participation does not guarantee a work position will be secured. Additional fees are required for those participating in the optional co-op stream regardless of success in securing a work position.
