• Graduate with a total of 12 months paid experience through the co-op stream, earned across three work terms with local or international organizations on community relations, policy analysis, or public service
• Study and gain experience working in a developing country by participating in the Trent in Ghana or Trent in Bolivia program, with the option for a 10- to 12-week extended field placement with a development organization

International Scholarships & Awards

For international undergraduate students starting in May (Summer) 2026 or September (Fall) 2026.
Trent University has been one of the top universities in Ontario for scholarships and bursaries for more than 20 years.  Trent's full and diverse scholarship program is designed to foster and reward academic excellence among our students. Scholarships are merit-based financial awards, typically awarded on the basis of academic excellence or a combination of academic achievement, leadership and community involvement.

Trent International Renewable Entrance Scholarships
(Automatic/No Application Required)

All international undergraduate students applying to Trent are automatically considered for Trent University Entrance Scholarships that are awarded based on academic excellence. These range in value from $2,500 to $5,500 annually and are renewable over the course of your undergraduate degree provided you meet the eligibility criteria each year of your undergraduate program.

Entrance Scholarship Eligibility

• You must be an international student paying international fees.
• You must be studying in Canada on a study permit.
• You must have applied to an undergraduate degree program at Trent University. Postgraduate certificates and graduate-level students are not eligible.
• You must meet Trent University’s Admission requirements, including general and degree-specific requirements and the English Language Proficiency Requirements.  
• You have a final high school average of 80% or more (Canadian Equivalent).
• You will need to fulfill the conditions of your conditional offer letter and register for courses to receive

Renewing your Entrance Scholarship

The Entrance Scholarship can be renewed at the beginning of each new academic year of your undergraduate program. The Entrance Scholarship changes to the In-course Scholarship after your first year at Trent University. The In-course Scholarship represents the renewable portion of the Entrance Scholarship and requires an application each year through your myTrent portal. Please review the additional eligibility criteria for renewal below.

Students who did not qualify for the Entrance Scholarship in their first year, may qualify for the In-course scholarship after the end of their first year if they meet the eligibility criteria each year.

Renewable Prestigious Scholarships and Awards
(Application Required)

Trent International Prestigious Scholarships and Awards are awarded to entering international students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, community service, leadership potential, and some financial need. These awards fund tuition and mandatory ancillary fees at Trent in amounts up to $40,000 per academic year, and up to $160,000 over a 4-year degree.

Trent International Global Citizen Scholarships and Awards

This renewable scholarship is awarded to entering international students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, community service, leadership potential, and some financial need. Global Citizen Scholarships and Awards fund tuition and mandatory ancillary fees at Trent in amounts up to $40,000 per academic year, and up to $160,000 over a 4-year degree.

Trent International Program Tuition Levy Scholarship

This renewable scholarship is funded by Trent University students through an annual levy. Based on high academic achievement and a strong record of community and/or international service, leadership and some financial need, this scholarship covers international tuition and ancillary fees of up to $40,000 per academic year, and up to $160,000 over a 4-year degree.

Student Visa For Canada

Any student who wishes to study in Canada requires a student visa. Some of the essential information for the application process is given below.

Students who wish to work in Canada require a work permit to do so. A student in Canada can work part-time during the course of his studies and full-time during holidays and semester breaks and post the completion of their course/program.

Rules for getting a part-time work visa in Canada

You can also work part-time on campus at your university.

You can work part-time off-campus if you are studying in the Quebec province.

Working after completing your course

In Canada, you will need a work permit to get a full-time job in Canada after finishing your studies. You chose a work permit like the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) if you wish to stay back in Canada and work full-time.

Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)

The Post- Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) allows you to work for three years in Canada if you have completed a two years degree or more.
