Graduate Certificate in Electronics and Embedded Systems Development

Program Overview

Embedded systems are specialized computer systems that are embedded within devices and machines. The one-year Electronics and Embedded Systems Development Ontario College Graduate Certificate program is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to design and develop hardware and software components for various applications, including consumer electronics, automotive systems, medical devices, and industrial control systems.

In this program, you develop computer systems that have a singular purpose within larger electrical, mechanical, and digital systems and that are optimized for cost and reliability. You explore a range of topics, including microcontroller programming, digital signal processing, real-time systems, software architecture, and hardware implementation. You will also use communication protocols, sensors, and actuators within an embedded system.

Throughout the program, you will gain hands-on experience designing and developing embedded systems, first in the lab and then through working on applied projects. You will also test and debug your designs and optimize them for performance, power consumption, reliability, and sustainability.

Graduates of the Electronics and Embedded Systems Development program can pursue careers in a variety of industries:

  • Automotive
  • Aerospace
  • Robotics
  • Telecommunications
  • Consumer electronics
