If you're not quite ready for a full undergraduate degree, there's alternative entry through one of our foundation years.

This exciting and contemporary course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to progress to a broad range of jobs in marketing – from a comprehensive understanding of marketing theory to the practical skills you need to apply that knowledge in the workplace.

• As well as numerous opportunities for employer interaction and embedded employability throughout the curriculum, you will be exposed to key concepts of consumer behaviour and marketing insight, effective marketing strategy, planning and decision making, marketing communications and creative digital technologies focused on engaging global audiences.
• This practical emphasis draws on the course team’s extensive links with the business community, marketing groups and industry associations, which ensure the degree remains right up to date with contemporary debates, current best practice and all aspects of the modern marketing environment.
• The course has a strong focus on employability skills and work-related opportunities through live client briefs and real-world projects at all levels. You will have the opportunity to take part in agency trips, visiting leading agencies in creative hubs like Bristol and London, to see theory put into practice – and network with marketing professionals about your careers.
• You will also be able to attend guest lectures by industry experts and take part in networking opportunities such as the annual Meet the Professionals event, vital for your successful future career.
• International student events are another highlight. Solent University is the only UK university to be part of the International Marketing Network, with International Marketing Week giving you invaluable opportunities to enhance your skills and broaden your creative horizons through European travel and live project with multinational organisations such as Mercedes-Benz.
• If you are interested in setting up your own business, there is the opportunity to learn freelancing and entrepreneurial skills. And you also have the option to undertake additional qualifications, such as the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) professional qualifications, the Institute of Data and Marketing (IDM) Certificate, the Adobe Creative Cloud certification, Target Group Index (TGI) certification and the APM Professional qualification in project management.

• You will have full access to our general facilities. These include a library, open 24 hours at peak times; computer resource centres; bookable study spaces and contemporary sport/exercise facilities.
• You’ll also be able to benefit from our academic support and career development services, as well as dedicated Apple MAC Mac suites, featuring Adobe Creative Cloud suite and MarkStrat marketing simulation software.
