Careers Opportunities
The BSc (Hons) Digital Construction and Surveying programme aims to prepare you for a career in a number of possible sectors in the civil engineering and construction industry. Construction has long supply chains, including clients, consultant designers, contractors, sub-contractors, suppliers and manufacturers. There is increasing emphasis on the need for these supply chains to collaborate with each other, and digital techniques are key tools to support successful outcomes.
You’ll have the skills and knowledge to coordinate and lead teams, keep staff safe, plan the best use of resources, project manage the work of contractors, and respond appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues. In addition to subject-specific knowledge and skills, you’ll possess abilities in problem-solving, analysis and research, critical thinking, communication, teamwork, as well as commercial awareness.
What can I do with this qualification?
On successful completion of the course, you’ll have a sound understanding of best practice in the design and delivery of both smaller and flagship infrastructure schemes. After graduation, you’ll be ready to take on technical and management roles on diverse schemes such as commercial buildings and office blocks, industrial facilities and factories, and housing and multi-storey flats.
You'll be able to work for large multi-national companies, but also any of the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the industry. There are many opportunities in construction to work in international locations (for example, in the Middle-East or Australia) as well as huge demand for digital skills in the North West and elsewhere in the UK.
