Program Overview

Law with Politics at Keele delves deep into legal essentials and enables you to make sense of society in an ever-changing political world. You will build a foundation of legal education and explore the concepts of power, democracy and governance. With advanced skills in communication, analytical thinking and problem-solving, as well as an array of research and practical skills and exciting hands-on opportunities, you will be ready to embark on a career across various sectors including law, government and public relations.

Whether you're interested in public law or have a desire to work in the administration of government, our Law with Politics programme is designed to equip you with a grounding in legal principles and an in-depth understanding of the theory and practice of politics and government in the United Kingdom and beyond.

You will build an understanding of the nature of politics, its relevance in contemporary society, challenges to democracy and issues such as polarisation, corruption and anti-politics, from a global perspective. We will help you to prepare for a career in law and related sectors - the transferable skills you will gain on this programme apply to a variety of industries.

You will cover the seven essential areas of legal knowledge: Contract Law, Tort Law, Public Law, Criminal Law, European Law, Land Law, and Equity & Trusts. As you progress through your degree, you can tailor your studies to match your interests, whether you would like to explore 'Global Democracy Under Threat', 'The Dark Side of Politics' or 'Building a Better Future' as a global and active citizen.

Our civic Law School offers various practical learning opportunities that put future employability at the heart of your degree programme. These opportunities enable you to work with real clients, practice your legal skills whilst supported by qualified solicitors, and offer free legal advice to help individuals carefully navigate the justice system. Our CLOCK (Community Legal Outreach Collaboration Keele) scheme and Legal Advice Clinics offer valuable training, building your confidence, critical thinking skills and ability to communicate with various audiences.

At Keele, you can enhance your industry experience through a work placement year, gaining valuable insights into the workplace environment and building professional networks. Alternatively, you may wish to take an international year to study at a partner university. You will also have the opportunity to learn a language and become a multilingual graduate which can open up your career prospects on a global scale.

Undergraduate Global Scholarship (UG) 2025

The award

The Undergraduate Global Scholarship is awarded to students who exceed the published entry requirements on entry.

Year 1
- Awards of £5,000 will be awarded towards the Year 1 (Level 4) tuition fee for students who exceed published entry requirements on entry.
Year 2
- If a weighted average module mark of 60-69% is achieved from the modules studied in Year 1 (Level 4), then a payment of £1,000 will be awarded towards the Year 2 (Level 5) tuition fee. If a weighted average module mark of 70% or more is achieved from the modules studied in Year 1 (Level 4), then a payment of £2,000 will be awarded towards the Year 2 (Level 5) tuition fee.
Year 3
- If a weighted average module mark of 60-69% is achieved from the modules studied in Year 2 (Level 5), then a payment of £1,000 will be awarded towards the Year 3 (Level 6) tuition fee. If a weighted average module mark of 70% or more is achieved from the modules studied in Year 2 (Level 5), then a payment of £2,000 will be awarded towards the Year 3 (Level 6) tuition fee.
Year 4 (if applicable)
- If a weighted average module mark of 60-69% is achieved from the modules studied in Year 3 (Level 6), then a payment of £1,000 will be awarded towards the Year 4 (Level 7) tuition fee. If a weighted average module mark of 70% or more is achieved from the modules studied in Year 3 (Level 6), then a payment of £2,000 will be awarded towards the Year 4 (Level 7) tuition fee.

Eligibility

Enrolled undergraduate international students who exceed the published entry requirements (as per the prospectus for the year of entry) will automatically be awarded the scholarship as a tuition fee discount.
Only self-funding international students are eligible and you must be confirmed as an overseas student for fee paying purposes. The scholarship is not open to students who are in receipt of funding from external bodies such as local Government, charities or private organisations.
The scholarship is for full-time undergraduate students who will be based at Keele University and start their studies in September 2025. The award cannot be used for any other year of entry.
One-year top-up degree courses are also eligible for the Scholarship, as long as all course and applicant-related terms and conditions are met.

Exceptions

The scholarship is not available for students on the following programmes:

entering Foundation Year study
Medicine programmes
Programmes delivered through the Harper and Keele Veterinary School

1st (75%+/CGPA 7.5+) = £5,000
2:1 (60-74% / CGPA 6.5-7.4) = £4,000
