Accelerate your physiotherapy career with our diverse and innovative four-year Master’s programme. Become a highly competent and clinically astute physiotherapist who can improve people's quality of life and physical wellbeing by restoring, maintaining and enhancing their function and movement.

As a physiotherapist you will use physical approaches to strengthen and maintain people's physical, psychological, and social wellbeing, optimising their general health and helping to prevent illness. Physiotherapy at Keele provides you with an exceptional breadth of theoretical knowledge and practical experience to enable you to deliver high quality patient centred care.

This innovative course has been carefully designed to reflect physiotherapy in the 21st century and is flexible and future proof to accommodate the changing demands of health and social care, and the profession globally. You will develop the required competencies and clinical skills, which are underpinned by evidence to enable you to deliver high quality, safe and effective care that meets the needs of patients.

The programme has embedded the following themes:

Core subject knowledge including anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology and related clinical skills and physiotherapy subject knowledge
Physiotherapy practice placements
Health and wellbeing and resilience for service users and yourself
Leadership including professionalism and ethics

Our programme has recently been reaccredited to ensure its content is current and reflects contemporary physiotherapy practice in the UK, and is sufficiently flexible to accommodate the changing demands of health and social care and the future requirements of the profession, both in the UK and globally. The programme is committed to the development and provision of high quality multi and inter-professional learning.

You will improve your understanding of anatomy, physiology and movement science including basic therapeutic handling and the fundamentals of physiotherapy practice. You will study modules that focus on common conditions associated with the cardiovascular, respiratory, musculoskeletal, and neurological systems. Throughout the programme you will explore the effects of acute critical illness and the deteriorating patient, as well as studying core themes such as pharmacology, hydrotherapy, assistive technology, orthotics and neuropsychology.

The course explores concepts of physical rehabilitation, functioning and disability and investigates the impact of disability and how to restore function to individuals with specific conditions such as diabetes mellitus and heart disease.

Physiotherapist’s play a key role in promoting health and preventing illness and you’ll gain a solid understanding of the factors that can impact on people’s health and wellbeing.

You will undertake practical sessions within our Anatomy Suite where you will analyse and handle real anatomy prosections to enhance your understanding of the human body.

You will learn the required patient assessment techniques, including those who may have complex rehabilitation needs to improve your clinical decision making and analytical abilities. This will enable you to propose effective management strategies for patients in a well-informed and confident manner. You will benefit from specific modules which aim to enable you to establish your communication skills so you can become confident in your professional interactions as a physiotherapist. As a physiotherapist you will need to learn to communicate with a range of patients, carers, family members and fellow clinicians.

Undergraduate Global Scholarship (UG) 2025

The award

The Undergraduate Global Scholarship is awarded to students who exceed the published entry requirements on entry.

Year 1
- Awards of £5,000 will be awarded towards the Year 1 (Level 4) tuition fee for students who exceed published entry requirements on entry.
Year 2
- If a weighted average module mark of 60-69% is achieved from the modules studied in Year 1 (Level 4), then a payment of £1,000 will be awarded towards the Year 2 (Level 5) tuition fee. If a weighted average module mark of 70% or more is achieved from the modules studied in Year 1 (Level 4), then a payment of £2,000 will be awarded towards the Year 2 (Level 5) tuition fee.
Year 3
- If a weighted average module mark of 60-69% is achieved from the modules studied in Year 2 (Level 5), then a payment of £1,000 will be awarded towards the Year 3 (Level 6) tuition fee. If a weighted average module mark of 70% or more is achieved from the modules studied in Year 2 (Level 5), then a payment of £2,000 will be awarded towards the Year 3 (Level 6) tuition fee.
Year 4 (if applicable)
- If a weighted average module mark of 60-69% is achieved from the modules studied in Year 3 (Level 6), then a payment of £1,000 will be awarded towards the Year 4 (Level 7) tuition fee. If a weighted average module mark of 70% or more is achieved from the modules studied in Year 3 (Level 6), then a payment of £2,000 will be awarded towards the Year 4 (Level 7) tuition fee.

Eligibility

Enrolled undergraduate international students who exceed the published entry requirements (as per the prospectus for the year of entry) will automatically be awarded the scholarship as a tuition fee discount.
Only self-funding international students are eligible and you must be confirmed as an overseas student for fee paying purposes. The scholarship is not open to students who are in receipt of funding from external bodies such as local Government, charities or private organisations.
The scholarship is for full-time undergraduate students who will be based at Keele University and start their studies in September 2025. The award cannot be used for any other year of entry.
One-year top-up degree courses are also eligible for the Scholarship, as long as all course and applicant-related terms and conditions are met.

Exceptions

The scholarship is not available for students on the following programmes:

entering Foundation Year study
Medicine programmes
Programmes delivered through the Harper and Keele Veterinary School
