Certificate in Construction Techniques

Program Overview

Sheridan’s one-year Construction Techniques program offers hands-on training in four in-demand trades: carpentry, welding, millwright and plumbing. You will gain essential industry safety certifications and apply your knowledge in specialized labs and workshops, working on projects such as construction framing, plumbing installations and gearbox assemblies.

Balance work and training with Sheridan’s condensed program delivery
The program features a condensed schedule over three consecutive days, including weekends. This structure allows you to focus on your training while keeping the flexibility to work up to four days a week. With this efficient delivery, you can gain valuable trades skills without sacrificing income or work experience.

Enhance your training with Micro-Credentials
At Sheridan, you’ll earn micro-credentials at the end of each full semester, marking key milestones in your skilled trades training. After Term 1, you’ll receive micro-credentials in Carpentry and Industrial Mechanic Millwright. After Term 2, you’ll earn credentials in Welding and Plumbing. These industry-recognized achievements validate your skills and can support your transition into an apprenticeship when you're ready to take that next step.

Classes are in the evenings and weekends, making it easier to balance training with work, family, or other commitments.

Continue your education easily with Sheridan’s trades pathways
This program makes it easy to continue your education. The curriculum is linked to related one and two-year skilled trades postsecondary programs, so you can earn advanced standing for up to five courses if you decide to continue on at Sheridan's Magna School for the Skilled Trades. Plus, this program helps prepare you to take the Trade Entrance Assessment, opening the door to apprenticeships and jobs in your chosen trade.
