LIM College has announced an expansion of its merit scholarship program specifically aimed at international students. This initiative, known as the International Excellence Award, underscores the institution’s commitment to nurturing global talent and fostering inclusivity in fashion education.
Starting with new international students entering in Fall 2025, LIM College has increased the amount of merit-based scholarships up to $14,000 for students in bachelor’s degree programs and a up to $10,000 for students in master’s degree programs, which include STEM-designated programs in Fashion Marketing, Consumer Analytics, Global Fashion Supply Chain Management, Fashion Merchandising & Retail Management, and the MBA in Luxury Brand Management
By increasing these scholarships, LIM College not only supports international students but reinforces its standing as a global hub for talent development. Students from over 50 countries are currently enrolled at LIM, and international students have completed Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT) at prestigious brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Salvatore Ferragamo, Hugo Boss, and Valentino. Alumni have gone on to secure positions with many of fashion’s biggest names, including Chanel, Coach, Ralph Lauren, and Giorgio Armani.
Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
