Our data science major puts you on track for a successful career. Our program combines a strong foundation in core knowledge and computer skills with a focus on practical applications and teamwork. When you graduate, you'll have the experience employers are looking for.
Why our data science major?
A data science major is a career choice for today and for the future. Data science has one of the highest growth rates among all STEM disciplines with a growth rate of 36% through 2032, as projected by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Data scientists deal with large amounts of data to help companies make informed, data-driven decisions. Companies rely on data science majors who analyze big data and find meaningful insights.
Our major emphasizes both foundation and applications by requiring students to pursue a data science major and choose an analytics minor in an application discipline for a total of 65-67 credit hours of course work. Our program is designed to equip students with knowledge and skills in data management, computing and analytics modeling techniques, as well as the strong communication skills required to work effectively with teams and clients.
