That’s the world of journalism today: diverse, multimedia and international. And as a Solent journalist, you will have opportunities to explore not just the traditional fields of news, magazines and broadcast but also online platforms, documentary, communications, PR and more.

And our journalism graduates can be found in almost every sector of journalism and communications – at the BBC, Sky and other internationally renowned media companies; in digital start-ups, in magazines, PR, politics and corporate comms and marketing.

Sandwich Year

• If you apply for this course with a sandwich year, you have the opportunity to undertake a year in industry between our second and third years.

FACILITIES
Our facilities, facing Southampton city centre’s East Park, are stunning. Setting aside our new £30-million teaching facility, the Spark, the journalism degree benefits from multi-million pound investment in state-of-the-art media facilities. That means new TV and radio studios, well over £1 million in TV and digital equipment for students to borrow, an industry-standard newsroom, the latest editing software and one of the highest ratios of cameras and computers to students of any university in the country.
