The Bachelor of Biomedical Science offers an array of exciting majors in a variety of medical science fields, exploring leading-edge research and providing plentiful opportunities for you to gain meaningful experience in the field.
You can choose to specialise in Biomedicine, Microbiology and Immunology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Genetics and Biotechnology, or Biochemistry and Nutrition (or any two of these as a double major).

Major: Microbiology and Immunology
In this major, you will study bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites, along with how pathogens are detected and identified.
With both theoretical and practical laboratory training, you will learn about the global challenges of infectious disease and how this is being met in various ways, including by the development of anti-viral agents, immunotherapeutics, vaccines and antibiotics.

Eligible courses:
Bachelor, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma and Master’s by coursework degrees available to international students and delivered at one of Murdoch’s Western Australian campuses (excluding the Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Veterinary Biology, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and Master of Clinical Psychology)
Students who have completed their studies in Australia can apply for a Post Study Work Permit or a Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) to continue working in Australia post the completion of their study programs. As an international student, one can apply for the visa but not later than six months after completing your course. But to be eligible, you must meet the Australian Study Requirements, which include a minimum of 16 months of stay in Australia and a completing 92 weeks of a course registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
