Pre-Masters in Business and Law

The Pre-Masters Programme at the International Study Centre is specially designed to help international students like you transition to postgraduate study in the UK. Over a fast-track twelve-week programme, you will study a mix of core modules and subject-specific classes in your chosen subject route to fully prepare you for your chosen progression degree.

This distinctive Master’s programme explores the legal dimensions of the energy transition, encompassing everything from the approval of renewable energy projects to the regulation of energy markets in the age of decarbonisation. Throughout your studies, you will acquire invaluable insights into this rapidly evolving and highly relevant industry, laying a strong foundation for a successful career in this sector.

This LLM degree programme seeks to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to consult in energy transition law and policy matters. Our staff have expertise and specialisms in environmental and climate change law, as well as in energy law relating both to the fossil fuels sector and renewable energy.

Law has a central role to play in enabling the shift to low carbon energy whilst maintaining energy security and the transition to environmentally sustainable economic development. The law in these areas undergoes frequent and extensive change as experience grows and we respond to the difficulties we are currently encountering.

Studying alongside legal experts in these areas, you will be immersed in the grounding concepts of energy transition law. With a unique choice of topical energy and environmental courses including ‘Renewable Energy Law’ to ‘Downstream Energy Law’, you will benefit from an advanced understanding and sharpened critical analysis across many key areas.

The programme will be of great interest to those who wish to equip themselves with the knowledge required to meet the challenges of the existing sectors of energy and environment, and the wish to play a pivotal role in the adaptation of current corporate policies during a time of great change. Undergraduate Pathway Students:

The University of Aberdeen is offering progression scholarships to students who achieve a grade B (equivalent to at least 68%) in their undergraduate pathway programme. This scholarship will be available up to the value of £2,500 each year of your undergraduate degree, following your transition to the University.
The scholarship is available to self-funded students at the International Study Centre, on any undergraduate pathway except for those progression to MBChB Medicine. You can find out more about our fees here.

Postgraduate Pathway Students:

Postgraduate students who achieve the equivalent to at least 68% in their chosen pathway programme are also eligible for an academic scholarship to the University. A scholarship up to the value of £2,000 is available to students following progression from the International Study Centre.

There are various options through which a student can get a post study work visa in the UK.
Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur Visa for the graduates with a genuine and credible business idea.
Tier 2 (General) is the leading immigration visa to work in the UK.
Tier 4 Doctorate Extension Scheme is for students who have completed their Ph.D. and is valid for 12 months for them to work, look for work or set up a business.
Tier 5 Youth Mobility is for individuals of certain countries like Australia, Canada, Japan, Monaco, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, and New Zealand aged between 18 -30 who wish to move to the UK.
