Advanced Diploma in Diagnostic Imaging Technology X-Ray/CT

Program Overview

As a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist (DIT), you'll be a vital part of healthcare teams working closely with patients across all stages of care. This advanced diploma program is the second of its kind in Ontario to offer specialized training in MRI, ultrasound or X-ray/CT. You'll build skills required for delivering patient-centred care in a variety of healthcare settings.

Specialize in MRI, ultrasound or X-ray/CT

In your first year, you'll gain foundational knowledge about how MRI, ultrasound and X-ray/CT equipment capture images. You'll then take specialized courses in your chosen discipline during Year 2 and Year 3 of the program. After you graduate, you can obtain your second diagnostic imaging specialty within one academic year by completing seven more courses.

Hands-on learning and real-world experience

Your learning journey will be supported by cutting-edge technologies and innovative experiences, including augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and high-fidelity mannequins. You'll start gaining real-world experience in Year 2 of the program, working in a hospital setting. By the time you graduate, you'll have completed more than 1,300 supervised clinical hours.

Work towards industry certifications

Sheridan’s proposed cluster of Diagnostic Imaging programs has been developed with the intent to align with the accreditation standards set by Accreditation Canada (EQual™). The MRI and X-ray/CT specializations are designed to support the development of entry-to-practice competencies that are expected to be required for future certification eligibility through the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). Sheridan College is committed to meeting all necessary requirements to support graduate registration and certification upon graduation from the program.
