The MA in Educational Therapy will help you become a more well-rounded educator. This program combines educational and therapeutic approaches for evaluation, remediation, case management and advocacy.
Why Study Educational Therapy?
By developing expertise in educational therapy, you combine your educational and therapeutic approaches for evaluation, remediation, case management and advocacy on behalf of students with disabilities. Some educational therapists are generalists, and others specialize in areas such as reading, writing, math, and/or executive functioning skills.
In this field, you can create and implement treatment plans for individuals with varying backgrounds. By incorporating a client's social, behavioral and neurological backgrounds, you can help them recognize their strengths and use those strengths to overcome barriers and challenges.
Why Get Your Master's in Educational Therapy at CSUN?
CSUN has one of the few Educational Therapy MA programs approved by the Association for Educational Therapists (AET). We have close partnerships with many of our graduates, who continue to serve clients both locally and nationally. CSUN also has our own Educational Therapy clinic, where many interns have the opportunity to serve clients in person and virtually in their final semester in the program.
At CSUN, we've built our programs on knowledge derived from sound theories and rigorous research in partnership with team members from the Association for Educational Therapists. You will have several classes taught by Board Certified Educational Therapists (BCETs). You'll be encouraged to take time for reflection, problem solving and collaboration.
The MA in Educational Therapy program was designed in collaboration with the Association of Educational Therapy (AET). This partnership ensures you graduate with the requirements necessary for AET's Associate Professional level of membership.
Moreover, 150 supervisory hours for the professional level of membership are met by the internship, which is the culminating experience in the certificate program.
What You'll Learn
This MA program includes courses and field experience that give you the opportunities to develop expertise and practice relevant professional skills. As an integration of research and practice, you will design and implement an MA project that focuses on implementing a specific research-based practice and evaluating the impact. You will also complete a semester-long internship applying your learning throughout the program.
You'll take ET-specific courses including:

OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
