Why Earn a Master's in Data Science
Data scientists bring structure to large quantities of formless data and make analysis possible. This has increased the search for skilled data scientists.
As a Data Science major, you'll study applied statistics, computer science, and database systems. You'll learn to make effective decisions and solve problems.
Why Study Data Science at CSUN?
Skilled Faculty Our faculty have extensive real-world experience, which they incorporate into their teaching. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to your success.
Hands-on Experience You'll gain practical experience in the field of data science by applying your knowledge to real datasets.
What You’ll Learn
An M.S. in Data Science features courses in probability and statistics, databases and data engineering, programming, data mining, and machine learning.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):
