Program Overview

The Master of Science in Business Analytics prepares its graduates for employment in a high growth area of the economy. The program is for candidates who wish to enter or advance their careers in that field.

Business Analytics graduates are in high demand, as the business world is undergoing a data revolution. Most companies are now gathering data with the objective of driving business decisions, and there is an identified and pressing lack of skilled graduates at the intersection of business and data science.

Students are expected to develop a comprehensive understanding of how data flows within an organization and how data and associated tools add value to the organization

The School of Business at Mercy University wishes to attract new graduate students who will start their studies in the 2025-2026 academic year. Accordingly, the School is providing a program to encourage new incoming Business Graduate students, who have performed well academically in their undergraduate programs, with scholarships for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Applicants to each of the Graduate Business Programs will be automatically considered for one of two scholarship awards when they apply for admission to start in the 2025-2026 academic year and then begin their studies in that year. These applicants will not be required to complete a separate application.

Applicants must be accepted to one of the following Mercy’s Graduate Business Programs:

MBA – Finance
MBA – Managerial Analytics
MBA – Management
MBA – Marketing
MS in Business Analytics (STEM)

Awards will be granted based on the student’s undergraduate (bachelor’s) GPA as follows:

Scholarship Amounts		Requirements
$5,000.00		Bachelor’s Degree Cumulative GPA: 3.50 – 4.00*
$3,500.00		Bachelor’s Degree Cumulative GPA: 3.00 – 3.49*
*The GPA used for this purpose will be the GPA the student earned from the institution that conferred their undergraduate degree and converted to the U.S. 4.00 scale.

There is a limited amount of scholarship money available for the 2025-2026 academic year and scholarships will only be awarded while scholarship monies are still available.

Scholarship Application Process: There is no separate application required. Applicants are automatically considered for scholarships upon admission to the program.

Scholarship Requirements and Payment Schedule:

Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come first-served basis as determined by the receipt of a completed application.
Scholarships will be one-time and will be applied to the student’s tuition bill equally over four consecutive quarters beginning with the first quarter in which the student is enrolled in the 2025-2026 academic year.
Students will be notified via email from the School of Business if selected.
The student must register for at least six credits each quarter.
When a scholarship is awarded, it must begin in the quarter for which the student requested admission during the 2025-2026 academic year. If the student defers admission, they may forfeit their scholarship.

Work Permit

PGWP

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.
