Career Opportunities

• The Childhood programme and its pathways provides the opportunity to develop a critical understanding of childhood for students who aspire to work directly with children, their families and/or with the services that support them. Employability has always been central to the Childhood programme here at the University of Suffolk. We encourage all students to undertake work/practice experience in whatever form is most accessible and appropriate for the individual student.
• The Childhood programme enables students to go into a range of careers working with children and their families as well as further graduate education such as Initial Teacher Training, Postgraduate Certification, and further studies at Masters’ and/or Doctorate level. Graduate destinations have previously been situated within the areas of education, early years provision, family support work, social care, therapeutic settings and charitable organisations.

Vice-Chancellor's Excellence in Health Scholarship

The University of Suffolk Vice-Chancellor's Excellence in Health Scholarship is a new and exciting scheme to reward exceptional international applicants who have a strong track record of academic achievement and show a commitment to having a transformative impact both during their studies and after graduation. This scheme is aimed at students intending to pursue one of our eligible professional health degrees.

We will be awarding fifty (50) Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence in Health Scholarships of £4,000 value each in the 2025/26 academic year.

• Undergraduate students will be awarded the Vice-Chancellor's Excellence in Health Scholarship in each year of study (excluding sandwich/placement/study abroad years - see terms and conditions below)
• This is not an automatic scholarship - eligible students will be invited to submit a scholarship application once an offer of admission has been made
• Scholarships are awarded as fee discounts

International Merit Scholarship

The University of Suffolk International Merit Scholarship (2025/26) is a scheme designed to reward international students who meet or exceed our published entry requirements (based on the country where you obtained your qualifications). The scheme is open to applicants of undergraduate and postgraduate-taught programmes delivered by the University of Suffolk at the Ipswich campus. 

The awards are £1,000 - £3,000 based on your academic achievements and level of study.

Bursaries and Scholarships

University of Suffolk Bursary

• The University of Suffolk Bursary is open to full-time and part-time University of Suffolk students starting an undergraduate degree programme in 2025-26. Successful applicants will receive a £500 bursary in each of their three years of study, subject to successful progression. Part-time students will receive £500 pro rata per year of study.

Ipswich Award

• The University of Suffolk is offering an exciting £1000 award for students starting on undergraduate courses at the Ipswich Campus.

Postgraduate Scholarships

There are a variety of Masters scholarships and bursaries are available for postgraduate degrees. Charities and government funding bodies all provide financial support for further study, helping to cover tuition fees and living costs. We have provided a list below of some available.

There are various options through which a student can get a post study work visa in the UK. 
Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur Visa for the graduates with a genuine and credible business idea. 
Tier 2 (General) is the leading immigration visa to work in the UK.
Tier 4 Doctorate Extension Scheme is for students who have completed their Ph.D. and is valid for 12 months for them to work, look for work or set up a business. 
Tier 5 Youth Mobility is for individuals of certain countries like Australia, Canada, Japan, Monaco, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, and New Zealand aged between 18 -30 who wish to move to the UK. 
Tier 5 GAE is for individuals who want to come to the UK for work experience, training, research or a fellowship. 
UK Ancestry is for individuals who are a citizen of a commonwealth and plan to work in the UK and have a grandparent who was born in the UK.
