Graduate Certificate in Urban Design (Hazel McCallion Campus) AND Graduate Certificate in Quality Assurance Manufacturing and Management (Co-op) - Davis Campus (Brampton) (Bundle Program)

Program Overview

 Urban Design:

Cities need designers who understand the built environment. This eight-month graduate certificate responds to that demand, teaching you to design inclusive and sustainable solutions that connect and integrate urban landscapes. Sheridan is one of the few colleges in Canada to offer this niche training, which is traditionally taught in master's level studies.

Real-world inspiration and learning
Our state-of-the-art Hazel McCallion Campus is a living lab for urban designers, surrounded by new development in the heart of Mississauga. Be inspired by the blank canvas of opportunity around you or make the short trip to Toronto to generate more ideas. You'll also have the chance to propose real-world solutions during a field placement with an urban design firm or industry partner.

Learn from urban design experts
Sheridan is well-known as a leader in design education. Learn from professors who have strong academic backgrounds and extensive industry experience in built environments. They'll teach you how to apply software skills to create visualizations of urban environments. You'll also study concepts of mobility, wayfinding, placemaking, ecology and more.

Quality Assurance - Manufacturing and Management
Our combination of high-tech facilities, engineering expertise and industry connections makes Sheridan uniquely qualified to offer quality assurance training. We know the most current practices in real-world manufacturing, safety and quality assurance, which we replicate in our labs for industry-standard training.

Quality assurance is a growing profession, with very good opportunities for promotion and high earnings. In just one year, Sheridan's Quality Assurance – Manufacturing and Management program can put you on the path to a rewarding career.

After completing two academic terms, students can apply for a paid co-op work term to gain professional experience while deepening their education. Enrolment is limited and requires a separate application process and requirements. To be eligible for acceptance in co-op, one has to have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and no D grade in the first term. To remain in co-op, similar academic performance must be maintained in the second term as well.

Co-op
Students in this program may apply to the co-op program during their first academic semester. Enrolment in the co-op program is limited through an additional co-op application process that takes place in the first semester. Students in the co-op program are eligible to complete a co-op work term during the 4-month term following the second semester. The program-specific academic standard required for participation in co-op can be found here: Academic Standards for Co-op and Internship.

Co-operative Education is a form of work-integrated learning that links classroom learning with paid or unpaid work experiences within a professional environment. Co-op work terms are related specifically to the academic studies of each student. The work terms provide an opportunity to learn by doing. You’ll apply theory to practice, develop a meaningful view of the working world, and cultivate an awareness of yourself as a professional.

Students receive in-class and 1-on-1 career education support to help prepare for the work term. The co-op component is delivered by Sheridan’s Co-operative Education Office, which facilitates over 1,800 co-op and internship work terms per year Sheridan-wide.
