Program Overview

Cloud Security

As the use of cloud computing grows, so does the need for professionals who can navigate and secure cloud environments. Stand out to employers with a graduate certificate focusing specifically on cloud security — the first credential of its kind offered by Ontario public colleges. In just eight months, you'll understand theory behind cloud security and know how to apply it in real-world scenarios.

This program covers a wide range of topics that provide a well-rounded understanding of cloud principles and practices, including:

  • Linux operating systems.
  • Designing and securing infrastructures in cloud-based ecosystems.
  • Vulnerability management strategies.
  • Unique challenges and solutions within cloud architectures.
  • DevSecOps software development best practices.

No previous cloud security training is required for entry into this specialized program. It could be your first step towards further education in the field, including an Amazon Web Services (AWS) certification. It can also enhance your existing computer science expertise or complement other graduate certificate programs at Sheridan, such as Internet of Things and Machine Intelligence.

Project Management

This program prepares you to initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control a project to ensure its success. That's true whether your area of interest is the arts, community or social services, business or government administration. If you're a seasoned professional, this program provides the opportunity to learn new skills to advance your career faster.

Things you'll learn to do

  1. Identify clear project objectives and detailed project requirements.
  2. Develop and monitor performance measures.
  3. Create valuable project management plans.
  4. Manage communication with all team members and project stakeholders.
  5. Arrange and control finances.
  6. Manage project constraints including scope, quality, cost and time.

Cooperative Education

You have the option to work for one work term at the end of the program’s eight-month academic portion to gain further valuable real-world experience that is highly regarded by employers. This paid co-op/unpaid internship experience allows you to explore different career paths and apply classroom learning to additional actual business situations.
