Graduates of UNT's master's program of rehabilitation counseling help individuals with disabilities find employment, feel empowered to live a productive life and undergo challenging transitions with guided support. By utilizing knowledge of vocational rehabilitation counseling, individual counseling, assessment, and group counseling our students are well equipped to provide support in various professional capacities. Offered with an option to complete courses entirely online, this master's program is accessible for individuals with disabilities and current rehabilitation workers seeking to enhance their education and skills. Opportunities for hands-on experience are also available through the department’s Wellness and Employment Lab (UNTWELL).
The Department of Rehabilitation and Health Services master’s program offers a traditional on-campus program as well as a distance-learning online program for professionals actively involved in the field.
Beyond the classroom, students participate in field-site internship experiences and engage in curriculum that emphasizes an exposure to a broad spectrum of rehabilitation services, professional organizations, interdisciplinary professional activities, and advocacy and consumer groups in the field of rehabilitation. Students are required to achieve 100 hours of practicum and 600 hours of an internship.
