Major: Allied health

The major in Allied Health provides the knowledge, skills and capabilities to prepare students for further study to enable them to qualify as an allied health professional. Students will develop effective communication and reflective practice skills and apply these skills to diverse client populations. Students develop an understanding of the important role that physical activity plays in the prevention and development of chronic disease, and the evidence-based practice skills they need to support clinical decision-making and the delivery of client-centred health care. The evolving health care environment is explored, including the political, economic, professional, ethical and social and cultural influences on clinical decision-making, and the different organisational contexts within which allied health professional work.
