Graduate Certificate in Health Informatics

Program Overview

The one-year Ontario Graduate Certificate in Health Informatics is designed for health-care professionals, IT specialists and data analysts seeking to use technology and data-drive solutions to enhance patient and health-care outcomes. This program provides students with in-depth knowledge, skills and tools of health-care systems, data management and health informatics, preparing them for the rapidly evolving field of health informatics.

This program offers a blend of theoretical learning and hands-on experience, including case studies, and industry projects to ensure learners are well prepared to meet the needs of this in-demand field. Courses focus on key areas including gathering and analyzing patient/health data to drive health and/or patient outcomes in combination with the types, usage and limitations of various technology-based solutions (ex: EMRs, AI, Machine learning etc.) within the health-care field, all while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

A key focus of the program is the integration of technical skills with inter-professional collaboration and interpersonal communication, ensuring graduates are well-rounded in both the analytical and human aspects of health-care informatics. This comprehensive approach equips students to make data-driven decisions that improve health-care delivery, patient safety and overall organizational effectiveness
