The AUM College of Education prepares teachers to provide specially designed instruction for students
Teaching special education requires a person with a special set of skills. It takes special knowledge, strong teaching skills, compassion, humor, creativity and patience. Through coursework and laboratory experiences within the professional studies component of each program, AUM will help you develop the cognitive and affective skills that will enable you to become a successful, competent, committed and reflective educator. An internship is required to complete this program.
Courses in Special Education use a blend of technology and media to support candidates in a variety of learning environments. Courses focus on topics such as assistive technology, autism, behavior management, assessment, working with parents and families and high incidence disabilities. Our Special Education programs prepare teachers to provide specially designed instruction for students with exceptionalities and to work across diverse educational settings.

OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
