Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Construction Management (Top-Up)

Program Overview

Your next step after completing a Foundation degree in Construction Management or BTEC Higher National Diploma, this industry-focused top-up course prepares you for a thriving career in the global construction sector. Through our combination of real-life work placements, an independent project, and expert teaching in areas such as construction economics, project management and emerging technologies, you gain the skills and knowledge needed to make your mark in this rewarding field.

What will you study?

Studying our Construction Management (Top-up) BSc (Hons) course will allow you to build on your knowledge and skills in design and construction. In core areas of study, our Construction Project Management unit will equip you with the knowledge, understanding and experience in effective project management in construction to meet time and budget constraints. Furthermore, when working in construction, it is also important to ensure construction projects deliver a profit. This is where our Construction Economics unit will expose you to principles and technologies within the field such as budgeting or cost and value management that you can use to achieve commercial and contractual outcomes.

In other areas of study, sustainability has now become a major influence on construction projects, and you will explore this in our Emerging Technologies and Sustainability unit. You will investigate emerging technologies used in current construction methods while critically analysing its importance within sustainability and financial implications. Additionally, you will advance your knowledge and practical skills around procurement law and risk management techniques for construction in our Contract Procurement and Risk Management unit.

Finally, you will complete an Honours Project where you will be able to apply your skills, knowledge and creativity to a project of interest to you that is relevant to your field of study. Through evaluating research and literature, you will demonstrate in-depth knowledge in your chosen topic related to the construction industry while also presenting conclusions and recommendations for complex problems in the field.
