Program Overview

We offer an exciting range of modules, focusing on novels, short fiction, creative non-fiction, flash fiction, hybrid forms, podcasting and poetry, writing for stage and screen, as well as the challenge of working with AI in professional and creative contexts. You will also develop knowledge of the publishing industry and of the ways in which texts are produced, marketed and distributed.

Visiting guest writers help inspire creativity which in the past have included hosts readings and discussion from award-winning novelists and poets. Catrin Kean, poet Bhanu Kapil, and short fiction author Wendy Erskine are just some of the writers to pay us a visit at Bangor University.

From the outset, on our Creative Writing degree, you will be encouraged to build your professional network and play an active role in our creative community. This enables you to draw inspiration and learn lessons from both past and current established practitioners.

There are lots of opportunities to extend your creativity outside of the classroom. This includes student-run readings and discussion groups. Bangor’s vibrant local arts and culture scene includes a local theatre, cinema and there are poetry groups who host events across the city.
