The Master of Industrial Technology and Operations is a 10-course professional master’s degree that provides individuals with a broad knowledge of industrial technologies and operational activities, as well as the managerial and communication skills required to effectively manage operations, personnel, and resources in a competitive, performance-oriented environment. The curriculum focuses on functional activities, utilization of current and emerging technologies, and the development of critical thinking and innovative problem-solving abilities. In-depth study of industry-specific topics is achieved through completion of an industrial specialization in one of five areas: Construction Technology, Facilities Management, Industrial Sustainability, Manufacturing Technology, or Supply Chain Management. The program is a STEM degree that allows students to pursue a program of study suited to their professional interests and career objectives.

Facilities Management Concentration
The Industrial Technology and Management program’s Facilities Management (FM) specialization at Illinois Institute of Technology is available at the undergraduate and graduate level. The FM specialization prepares students to handle the range of supervisory and managerial responsibilities required to operate, maintain, and improve buildings and facilities. The curriculum is designed for students with prior training, education, and experience in stationary engineering, facilities engineering, HVAC, HACR, or facilities management

Illinois Tech has several of its own competitive scholarship programs that are open to both undergraduate and graduate students. All domestic undergraduate first-year and transfer students are automatically considered for scholarships that cover a generous portion of expenses such as tuition. Graduate students in select degree programs also may be considered for additional special scholarships, beyond any fellowships that they may receive.
Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
