Through Illinois Institute of Technology’s cybersecurity master’s degree program, you’ll gain a deep understanding of data and information security, hardware and software security, and systems and network security. You’ll develop the skills and knowledge to mitigate cyber risks while increasing data and systems protection, planning security measures, and recognizing potential legal and ethical issues.
Our cybersecurity master’s program offers you the opportunity to specialize in security for artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, cloud computing, or mobile networks and infrastructure through our elective courses. Career Opportunities
As cyber threats increase, the demand for graduates with a master’s in cybersecurity degree is extremely high and expected to remain strong for decades to come. The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that the job growth rate for information security analysts, for example, will be 35 percent through 2031. That’s more than 60 percent higher than the growth rate for all jobs nationwide. Information security analysts enjoy strong earning power, with the Bureau of Labor Statistics reporting an annual median salary of $102,600 for these experts.

Illinois Tech has several of its own competitive scholarship programs that are open to both undergraduate and graduate students. All domestic undergraduate first-year and transfer students are automatically considered for scholarships that cover a generous portion of expenses such as tuition. Graduate students in select degree programs also may be considered for additional special scholarships, beyond any fellowships that they may receive.
Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):
