The Bachelor of Science in Business and Information Technology degree is designed to provide students with the broad-based knowledge and skills to launch and advance their career as analysts, technologists, managers, and consultants in the dynamic field of information technology.
The STEM-oriented program curriculum, with courses drawn from Illinois Institute of Technology’s Stuart School of Business and College of Computing, provides students with exposure to disciplinary cores in both business and information technology. The program brings together world-class faculty and offers an incredible opportunity to learn from subject matter experts across the university. Courses explore software programming, cybersecurity, business management strategies, accounting, data analytics, finance, optimization, entrepreneurship, operations, leadership, data modeling and applications, and business computer applications.
Students learn how to take on a central role in evaluating, developing, deploying, and managing complex information systems to increase operational efficiencies and attain organizational goals.
Through Illinois Tech’s one-of-a-kind Elevate program, you are guaranteed access to hands-on experiences—such as internships, group projects, and research—where you connect your classroom learning with real-world practice. STEM-Designated Program
This is a STEM-designated program, and international graduates of the program are eligible to apply for an extension for Optional Practical Training, which allows selected students to stay and work in the United States for up to three years after graduation.

This program develops students’ knowledge in the disciplines of business and information technology, critical thinking skills, and technical expertise. Our graduates are prepared for careers as managers and leaders who can adapt to changing technological environments, effectively lead projects and teams, and make key strategic management decisions in all types of businesses and organizations.

Illinois Tech has several of its own competitive scholarship programs that are open to both undergraduate and graduate students. All domestic undergraduate first-year and transfer students are automatically considered for scholarships that cover a generous portion of expenses such as tuition. Graduate students in select degree programs also may be considered for additional special scholarships, beyond any fellowships that they may receive.
Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):
