Program Overview

Geography is the study of location and temporal and spatial relationships between humans and their environment. The Geography B.A. provides students with a basic foundation of the discipline. Students can take a variety of courses to experience breadth in the field, or they can focus on a subfield in geography to gain depth.

Learning Outcomes

Students will:

1. Demonstrate the ability to answer questions by synthesizing geographic knowledge (i.e., Six Elements of Geography: A spatial world view; place and regions; physical systems; human systems; environment and society; and the uses of geography).
2. Be able to acquire geographic information and assemble ideas and information from geographic literature and scholarship, and from primary and secondary sources.
3. Be able to organize geographic information into maps, graphs, and other visual representations and analyze geographic information to seek patterns, relationships, and connections.
4. Be able to prepare and deliver clear and convincing written presentations.
5. Be able to prepare and deliver clear and convincing oral presentations.
