Program Overview
Capilano University offers a 2-year-long baccalaureate degree in English called an Associate of Arts in English program. English is the most widely used language in the world and hence studying English can never go out of style and will always be professionally motivating. Studying literature does not only means employment in the world of academia but can also open multiple other professional doors, such as creative writing, copywriting, fiction or nonfiction writing and other assorted jobs.
Under this course students study literature and through the affluence of English literature we can have a better worldview. Literature offers us a culturally diverse perspective of the world and offers us a more historical, political and social context of events. Studying literature helps an individual develop and hone their preexisting skills such as reading, writing, critical thinking and a higher level of understanding.
Under the Associate of Arts Degree the students study all kinds of literature from modern to classics and contemporary works of literature for two years. Students have the opportunity to read various genres, expand their cultural horizons and know the world from an altogether different perspective. Associate of Arts Degree consist of a total of 60 university credits with a total of 18 credits in the first and second year English.
