On this Master’s course, you learn how biotechnology and engineering can be used to treat human disease, exploring areas of biological science that offer clear commercial applications for future healthcare developments.

Biomedical engineering is at the forefront of medical research, advancing our understanding of biology and improving healthcare. As a professional in this field, you will be able to use biotechnology and engineering to create new products and medicines aimed at solving a wide range of medical problems.

When you join this course, you start by learning about new technologies in cell and molecular biology before focusing on genomic and systems’ data; cell visualisation; and protein localisation in cells and tissues. You also study methods to create three-dimensional cultures and tissues.

Prompt Payment Discount

The tuition fee pre-payment of 65% will be calculated on the full, published tuition fees and will not take into account any scholarships, bursaries or awards. These will be applied to the remaining balance of your fees.

High Achievers Undergraduate Scholarship for India

Our High Achievers Undergraduate Scholarship for India is worth £3000 off international tuition fees for each year of study. To receive the award, the below criteria must be met. Applicants must be:

Classed as International/Overseas fee-payer status. Home fee paying students are not eligible.
Achieve 75% or more in the Indian Year 12 exams
Applying for the first year of an undergraduate course at level 4 (first year) starting in the 2026/27 academic year.
Applicants looking to enter at level 5 or 6 are not eligible as they would not be entering on the basis of an eligible qualification, but would be eligible for the VC’s Undergraduate Scholarship.
Applicants for the International Foundation Year would not be eligible, but would receive the International Foundation Year Scholarship

Students who are successful in being awarded the scholarship will not be eligible for any other scholarships or bursaries, but will be eligible for the £1000 prompt payment discount on tuition fees.

Vice Chancellor's Scholarship for Postgraduate Students

On all Master’s postgraduate degree courses commencing in the 2026/27 academic year, including MBA, international students not receiving any of our other scholarships will receive the Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship, which is a reduction of £1,000 off their first year’s fees.

Students progressing from one of our undergraduate degrees to Master’s programmes would not be eligible for this award as they receive the Alumni Scholarship.

Students who are awarded this scholarship will not be eligible for any other scholarships or bursaries, but will be eligible for the £1000 prompt payment discount on tuition fees.

Scholarship Available

The Scholarship scheme for international students enrolling in the academic year 21/22 at one of our UK campuses is as follows:

An automatic £1,000 Vice Chancellor's Scholarship for new international applicants (undergraduate and postgraduate).
A £500 Prompt Payment Discount for applicants who pay their first year fees in full, before or at registration (undergraduate and postgraduate).
A further £500 for applicants who are also University of Bedfordshire alumni
