This BA (Hons) programme will allow you to study a range of key issues relevant to educational theory and practice within modern British society with a particular emphasis on Additional Learning Needs and inclusive practice.
What you will learn
This single honours programme will allow you to explore and engage with a wide range of issues relevant to developing an inclusive practice and supporting learners with additional learning needs to enable and facilitate their educational development.
At the core of this programme are the foundation subject areas of Education Studies which include psychology, sociology, history and philosophy. The study of these subjects will provide you with a detailed understanding of key educational issues that are relevant to a wide range of potential careers and postgraduate study options.
The specific modules relevant to Additional Learning Needs and Inclusion will provide you with further detailed insight into key areas relevant to supporting students with additional needs. It will provide you with both the theoretical understanding and the practical knowledge and skills to enable you to apply your studies to a wide range of potential careers such as teaching and educational support.

Career Opportunities
This degree will be attractive to those who are interested in all forms of education, training, communication and human development and can lead to a variety of career options including teaching, educational administration, youth and community and educational welfare professions.
The main attraction of this course is the flexibility it offers should you not have a fixed career path in mind. In particular, it will be of interest to those wishing to work within specialised learning units supporting individuals with particular additional needs. A large number of previous students have gained places on the PGCE Primary Teaching programme and have subsequently found employment as primary school teachers. Other past graduates are working in a variety of different professions such as local government, educational support services and various charitable organisations.
Some graduates have taken the opportunity to teach abroad and community engagement work is also a popular option for many of our graduates, some of whom have managed to secure employment as a direct result of the opportunities available to them as part of their studies.
There are various options through which a student can get a post study work visa in the UK.
Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur Visa for the graduates with a genuine and credible business idea.
Tier 2 (General) is the leading immigration visa to work in the UK.
Tier 4 Doctorate Extension Scheme is for students who have completed their Ph.D. and is valid for 12 months for them to work, look for work or set up a business.
Tier 5 Youth Mobility is for individuals of certain countries like Australia, Canada, Japan, Monaco, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, and New Zealand aged between 18 -30 who wish to move to the UK.
Tier 5 GAE is for individuals who want to come to the UK for work experience, training, research or a fellowship.
