Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Embedded Electronic Systems

Program Overview

As technology moves forwards, electrical and electronic engineering is becoming of significant importance. Studying our Embedded Electronic Systems BEng degree, you will gain an essential understanding of the key components and characteristics of computer systems and a sound knowledge of fundamental circuit and network analysis tools through real-world component behaviour. You will also learn to apply these tools in a practical environment.

This programme aims to build a systematic understanding of key aspects of a range of concepts, principles, and technologies associated with embedded systems and communication technologies, some of which are at the forefront of the discipline.

You will be introduced to software constructs, and to the development of software, using the C programming language for embedded applications and gain an understanding of the underlying concepts and principles of microprocessors, microcontrollers and the associated peripheral modules and interfacing techniques used to create programmable systems capable of tasks such as monitoring, communication and control.

During your course, you will build an in-depth understanding of the design and implementation of distributed microcontroller systems and their application to modern electronic devices and systems. You will build the skills to resolve problems or to meet a set of requirements. As well as subject-specific knowledge, you will also develop the transferable skills needed in the employment context, including workshop skills.
