First Year Pathway in Humanities and education Leading to Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Montessori Early Childhood Studies (Graduate Practitioner)

Program Overview

In the First Year Pathway students complete the ARU first year of the degree, undertaking the same modules, in the same classes as students entering the University directly. Alongside the ARU modules, students entering through the First Year Pathway will have additional support and tuition from ARU College.

First Year in Humanities and Education

Our education courses take a progressive approach and will teach you transferable skills, relevant across early years, primary teaching and beyond. We’ll help you see the potential in others. Education goes beyond the classroom, and you’ll discover the social issues that impact on children’s and young people’s learning.

Choose a humanities course to learn more about how history has shaped modern times; explore politics, social issues and public services; or tackle the philosophical questions that have captivated humanity for millenia.

At ARU College and ARU, you’ll develop your thinking, while gaining real-life experience through work placements.

BA (Hons) in Montessori Early Childhood Studies (Graduate  Practitioner)

If you’re interested in working in a Montessori and early years context, our BA (Hons) Montessori Early Childhood Studies degree will develop your knowledge and skills to become a competent and effective Montessori teacher.

You’ll explore the Montessori method of education, focussing on the three elements of the Montessori Dynamic triangle: the child, the environment and the teacher. Together, we'll explore the Montessori materials and presentations that support children’s learning and development, giving them opportunities for self-direction, while you guide them on their journey to self-discovery and reaching their full potential.

You’ll also examine child development, cosmic education, social justice, and inclusion, developing your ability to reflect critically on your experiences as well as a broad and balanced societal view supported by theoretical knowledge and research evidence.
