Program Overview

The rapid expansion of international sport and sport's increasing positive contribution to international development have created exciting new career opportunities world widely. This course aims to nurture your talents and give you an understanding of contemporary issues in sport from a global perspective. You'll explore a range of key skills to enable you to work for development of international sport and sport initiatives in international development for both public and commercial sectors.

As a graduate you will have a promising career and employment prospects in the global job market. The number of international sports events has kept on increasing in recent years and so has the sheer scale of these events. The international sports industry keeps exploring new markets in the developing countries, e.g. China and India, after their old markets in the advanced regions have become saturated.

More and more governments, both international and national, and NGOs including the international governing bodies of sport become actively engaged in providing and delivering sports programmes to support social development. The globalisation of sport, both through the traditional format but more recently with the trend in eSports, has become an accelerated and irreversible process.

This course reflects key issues and rapid changes in this ongoing process and prepares students with good and up-to-date knowledge of the ever-changing world of global sport. Following completion of the course graduates can expect to enter the professional sports clubs, national and international governing bodies of sport, sport development within national based and international based organisations and locations, sport administrations, sport marketing and PR, event management, and sport/leisure/fitness club management.
